My name is Wilson Otobo,  I am a photographer and my photography name is Big Willz Photography.

It’s really hard to pin point when I started photography or at what time, the reason being that, I remembered when I was younger I use to like taking pictures though it was with films, then when I was in the University I got my first camera and started taking pictures of trees, bushes, anything captivating because it was to me like a nature thing when I first started, but then at some point I think I dropped it because when I finished school the photography thing came down a bit.

I was able to maintain my stability in photography and grow my market, because I was able to meet some certain people like Brook Matrix Photography, Min Photography, and some other photographers.

It started again for me in church a couple of years back, I had to become the head of photography in church because they needed someone to do it and I started doing it and since then I have been doing it.

The challenges I had when I started professionally was the fact that it was difficult to find people that you could call mentors in the sense that when you start, its hard to know people who are already in the field to help you grow.  Two is getting the equipment that you really need to really start professionally, it was a challenge but at some point, you need to start somewhere, but like I said I was lucky to have started in church and they had a camera that I was using and after a while they left it with me and it became my daily drive for photography.

How I was able to tackle those challenges was when I decided  to go on professionally, what I did was that I decided to get some money together and pay someone to teach me who was already in the field and the reason why I did that wasn’t because I felt like I needed so much knowledge from the person but I felt like I needed the contact because when you’re not in that field you won’t get to know people who are in the field but somehow someone introduced me to this person and I paid and I was taught and there after I got to know one or two other photographers and that was how I joined the stream of professional photographers.

I was able to maintain my stability in photography and grow my market, because I was able to meet some certain people like Brook Matrix Photography, Min Photography, and some other photographers.  Because I was able to meet them I caught the drive to catch up with what is happening in the industry, if your alone you will never really know if you’re really doing very well or you’re not doing very well, but when you are with people who are in the same field with you, that helps you to grow and helps you to better yourself in photography. We sit down together and analyze how we want to achieve a particular picture idea, for example we can see a picture and don’t know how they did the lighting, we all sit and analyze it together, how do we do it, we start shooting and that has helped me in growing myself as a photographer and also growing the different kinds of pictures I shoot every day.

What has kept me going all these while is “LOVE”. I think if I have to come back all over again in this world, I will start with photography, I won’t start messing around trying other stuffs rather I will stick to photography and stick to it, so to me it’s the love for photography.
